Why I fell in love with photography (and how It changed me)
Jun 5, 2025
Photography began as a simple curiosity—just a borrowed camera and an afternoon of experimenting with light. I didn’t realize then that I was about to stumble into a lifelong passion, one that would challenge, change, and ultimately center me. This is my story of falling in love with photography, and why it became much more than just pressing a shutter.
The first spark
I remember the moment vividly. It was a gray, overcast day, and I was walking through an old part of town with my cousin’s DSLR. I didn’t know anything about settings or composition, but something about the way the light filtered through the clouds and bounced off the cobblestone streets compelled me to lift the camera and capture it. That single click felt like magic—like freezing time, like preserving a feeling.
From hobby to obsession
What started as casual shooting quickly snowballed. I watched tutorials late into the night, studied my favorite photographers, and spent weekends wandering with my camera, chasing the golden hour. I started noticing light in a different way: how it wrapped around faces, filtered through leaves, danced on water. Photography changed how I looked at the world. Every mundane corner became a potential frame.
How It changed me
I see beauty in everyday life now
I’m more present.
I’m more confident.
I’m more grateful.
Final Thought
Falling in love with photography changed the trajectory of my life. It taught me to look, to listen, to feel. It gave me not just a skill, but a way of being. If you’re just beginning your journey with photography, know this: it’s not just about creating beautiful images. It’s about discovering a new way to connect—with the world, with others, and with yourself.
